There's no better way to embrace the season than by a float on the James River. In addition to our popular 2 mile float with private drop-in at Horsecreek Ranch & Retreat, starting July 3, 2025, we're thrilled to announce a new 6 mile float!
Get ready for a fun-filled day in the sun on the river!
The New 6 Mile James River Float Experience

The new 6 mile James River float can be booked with our paddleboards, 4 person rafts, or premium river tubes. We offer a convenient shuttle service included with your reservation from our Bald Eagle Drive parking area (1400 Bald Eagle Drive, Galena, MO 65656), so you end your float where your vehicle is...making your trip a lot easier and more enjoyable!
The float typically takes between 4-6 hours, depending on the river depth, how many times you stop to play, and whether you paddle or just take it easy.
Our shuttle service from the Bald Eagle parking lot runs on Thursday - Sunday, on the hour at 10 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, and 1 PM; and takes you to the drop in at our private Eagles Bluff Beach.
Online reservations are requested for the 6 Mile float to guarantee availability. Walk-ins are welcome if space allows, we recommend calling our Welcome Center at (417) 655-8007 in the morning to confirm!
Prices for the 6 Mile float include parking, shuttle to the drop-in, tube/paddleboard/raft, and PFDs:
Tubes - $35/person
Paddleboard - $40/person, $20/second rider
Raft - $200/raft that holds up to 4 people
What to Bring
To fully enjoy your 6-mile river journey, remember to pack these essential items:
Water Shoes: The river bottom and banks are rocky, we recommend closed toe water shoes.
Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hats and/or UPF clothing to prevent you from getting burned!
Cooler, Water, and Snacks: We know our guests like to party on the river, but remember to drink some water too! Carry plenty of water and light snacks to keep your energy up during the float.
The shuttle will make a stop at our Welcome Center for guests who want to grab some snacks, ice, a waterproof phone case, extra sunscreen, or a commemorative t-shirt or hat!
