Ideal for Families

The James River has an average depth of waist-deep or less for the average adult, and during prime floating season a slow flow speed, making it perfect for families with children. Most areas are shallow enough for kids to wade alongside their tubes or paddleboards. The riverbed and beach areas are smooth gravel, with plenty of gravel bars and beaches to stop along the way and play. Our private Eagles Bluff Beach also offers plenty of space for families to swim and play after or in lieu of floating.

Plan Your Float

Floats open Memorial Day Weekend, and run Thursday - Sunday, plus holiday Mondays, through Labor Day weekend. Our private shuttle runs on the hour from 9 am to Noon, with all floats ending at our private beach area near our guest parking lots. Reservations are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. We offer premium quality river tubes, as well as paddle boards or rafts; and our Welcome Center is open to purchase ice, waterproof phone cases, koozies, commemorative shirts, and more!
